Fake Plants is the duo of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Chance Flato (Portland, OR) and bassist/multi-instrumentalist Daniel Whiteneck (Amsterdam).  Fake Plants have been honing their textured sound and mining ethereal pop hooks in one form or another since 2005.

The group's debut album, Moon Ray, is a reflection on contemporary life through the lens of different Oregon-based landscapes and was written and recorded by Flato and Whiteneck over a 3 year period in Flato’s basement and across the trans-Atlantic airwaves.

The album is mixed by Portland based audio engineer Larry Crane (Elliott Smith, Quasi, Tape Op Magazine) and Norman based audio engineer Trent Bell (Chainsaw Kittens, Flaming Lips).
